30th National Meeting of Movement for Supporting Korea's Reunification Held in Japan
Pyongyang, December 14 (KCNA) -- The 30th national meeting of the movement for supporting the Korea's reunification took place in Gunma Prefecture, Japan on Nov. 25.

Present there were Chairman Fumihiro Himori and members of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, Chairman Kiichi Tsunoda and members of the Executive Committee of the National Meeting and representatives of friendly organizations in different parts of Japan.

Present there on invitation were Vice-Chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan Nam Sung U and officials of Chongryon.

A message of greeting sent by the Korean Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries was read out at the meeting.

The general secretary of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea said in his keynote report that the U.S., Japan and south Korea, which have stepped up their hostile policy toward the DPRK this year, have staged ceaseless military drills, creating the danger of a war on the Korean Peninsula from the outset of the year.

The U.S. is the arch criminal escalating the military tension on the peninsula, he said, adding:

A peace treaty should be concluded between the DPRK and the U.S. and the U.S. forces present in south Korea be withdrawn with the lapse of six decades since the conclusion of the Armistice Agreement as an occasion. The Korean war should thus be brought to a definite end.

He called for resolutely foiling the red herring of the Japanese government aimed to float the story about "threat from the north" and slander the DPRK.

The Japanese authorities' stand of regarding the "abduction issue" as more important than the normalization of the Japan-DPRK relations is violation of the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration, he said, adding that the government should immediately lift the sanctions against the DPRK and opt for coming out to talks for normalizing the relations.

He denounced the Japanese authorities for their human rights abuses against the Koreans in Japan and unconditionally apply tuition-waiver program to the Korean schools.

Then, speeches on the theme of "Establishment of Peace in Northeast Asia" were made at the meeting.

The meeting adopted an appeal calling for the pullout of the U.S. forces from south Korea and diverse solidarity activities for the conclusion of a peace treaty between the DPRK and the U.S.
