Rodong Sinmun Urges S. Korean Regime to Roll Back Its Policy of Confrontation
Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- It is necessary to force the conservative group of south Korea to roll back its policy of confrontation with fellow countrymen in order to improve the north-south relations and achieve reconciliation, unity, peace and reunification of the Korean nation. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a bylined article.

It goes on:

The anti-DPRK policy of the south Korean regime is the root cause of evils as it has bedeviled the north-south relations, blocked the reunification of the nation, increased the tension on the Korean Peninsula and is bringing the danger of a nuclear war to the nation.

The confrontation rackets of the south Korean puppet regime chilled all of a sudden the atmosphere of reconciliation and unity which prevailed on the peninsula and brought the inter-Korean relations to a total collapse though they had favorably developed on the principle of mutual respect under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.

The group of traitors frantically stepped up cooperation with outside forces, considering the nuclear issue and "human rights" issue as two mainstays of its strategy for pressurizing the DPRK, pursuant to its policy of confrontation.

It cooked up the "Cheonan" warship sinking incident and the Yonphyong Island shelling case and staged madcap maneuvers for a war against the north, pushing the north-south relations to an uncontrollable phase.

To allow the conservative group of south Korea to stay in power means an extension of its confrontation policy.

The conservative group's commitment to the "north policy" is nothing but an open anti-reunification declaration as it is little different from the confrontation policy of traitor Lee Myung Bak. It is as clear as noonday that the inter-Korean relations will get worse if the group of traitors is allowed to stay in power quite contrary to the trend of the times and wishes of the people.

It is nonsensical to talk about the improved inter-Korean relations as long as the south Korean ruling forces, the stumbling block lying in the way of reunification, are allowed to go on with their policy of confrontation. To keep the June 15 era of reunification alive is the only way of improving the inter-Korean relations and achieving reunification, peace and prosperity of the nation.
