Round-table Talks Held in Japan on Anniversary of DPRK-Japan Sport Interchange
Tokyo, December 8 (KNS-KCNA) -- There took place round-table talks in Sinjuku Ward, Tokyo Metropolis on Nov. 27 to mark the 40th anniversary of the realization of the DPRK-Japan sport exchange.

Present there were officials of the Korean Amateur Athletes Federation in Japan and members of the delegation of University of Sports of Japan who visited the DPRK.

Kim Ro Hyon, chairman of the federation, recalled that the Japanese delegation deepened exchange with Pyongyang University of Physical Education through judo, football and wrestling matches in November last.

He called for paving a road for improving the DPRK-Japan relations through sport exchange.

Kenshiro Matsunami, managing director of the Japanese university, made a report on its delegation's visit to the DPRK. Then followed speeches.

They noted that the recent visit offered an occasion of warming the friendship between the two countries.

Pointing out that Japanese students had an opportunity to know well about the DPRK, they underscored the need to promote exchange and friendship between the two countries through sports in the days ahead.

At the round-table talks there was a briefing on the history of sport exchange between the two countries and the background against which the Federation for the Promotion of Sport Exchange between Japan and the DPRK was formed, and its activities.
