Guy Dupre, secretary general of the International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The committee decided to organize diverse political and cultural events including remembrance meeting, seminar on Kim Jong Il's exploits and lecture on the occasion of the first anniversary of his demise.
