State Academy of Sciences Greets 60th Anniversary
Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The State Academy of Sciences of the DPRK is greeting the 60th anniversary of its founding.

President Kim Il Sung founded the State Academy of Sciences on December 1, 1952. He indicated orientation and ways in each period of revolution and construction and laid a strong foundation for scientific researches.

Leader Kim Jong Il laid down the line of attaching importance to science and technology and indicated most scientific and revolutionary ways for innovation in the development of the country's science and technology.

Over the past six decades since its foundation the academy has developed into the leading scientific research institution and faithfully served the revolutionary cause of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) with sciences and technology.

Scientists and technicians of the DPRK recently established the production system for Juche-iron, Juche-fertilizer and Juche-fiber and solved scientific and technological issues in putting the industry of magnesia clinker on the Juche-basis and establishing a combined automation system at main factories and enterprises.

They have developed the technology of breeding new seeds, advanced cultivation methods, different organic combined fertilizers and biological agrochemicals. They, at the same time, made valuable research achievements by improving quality of consumer goods and solving the problems of drinking water and fuel.

Rapid progress has been made by them in developing the latest technologies including software, microelectronics, production of physiology active materials, nano technology and space technology.

A meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Friday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the State Academy of Sciences.

A congratulatory message to the scientists, technicians and employees of the State Academy of Sciences from the WPK Central Committee was conveyed.

The message highly praised the scientists, technicians and employees of the academy for having registered great successes in developing the nation's science and technology.
