DPRK Makes Efforts to Preserve Cultural Relics
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The DPRK is exerting efforts to preserve cultural relics.

Officials and workers in the relevant field this year achieved success in the work of maintaining the original appearance of the cultural heritages on the principle of historicism.

They also successfully restored the flood-damaged ones to the original state.

People in the capital Pyongyang repainted or repaired the historical buildings such as those on Moran Hill and Mounts Taesong and Ryongak and spruced up their surrounding areas.

The management of Taedong Gate, Ryongwang Pavilion, Pothong Gate, King Tongmyong's Mausoleum, etc., has been improved.

Officials and employees of the Myohyangsan History Museum thoroughly repaired the Kwanum Hall, and maintained the Kumgang and Sangwon temples. They also restored the flood-hit road in time.

Working people of Kaesong City repaired the heavy rain- and storm-damaged Kaesong walls, Manwoldae and Mausoleum of King Kongmin, and colorfully repainted the Nam Gate and Sungyang School.

Efforts are directed to preserving the Mausoleum of King Wang Kon, founder of Koryo, and the relics in the areas around Pakyon Falls.

The place around the monument to the victory in the battle in the northern area of Korea, the Kaesim Temple on Mt. Chilbo and the Kyongsong South Gate and other relics have been restored to their former glory in a short span of time by people of North Hamgyong Province.

People in South Hamgyong Province are taking good care of the Kuchon Pavilion, the Ryangchon Temple in Kowon County, Anbul Temple in Kumya County and Jonggwang Temple in Riwon County.

Officials and people of Uiju and Pakchon counties in North Phyongan Province repaired the Chongun Shrine of Kumgwang Temple and the Chongphung Tower of Simwon Temple.

People in North Hwanghae Province repaired Kommunmoru Site and the Myongbu Hall of Songbul Temple on Mt. Jongbang to their original state.

People in the provinces of Kangwon, Jagang and South Hwanghae are also making devoted efforts for the preservation of relics.
