People of DPRK Strive to Better Residential Quarters
Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- Tongsin County of Jagang Province in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has taken on a new look after recovering from a serious typhoon and flood damage.

In summer the country was hard hit by torrential rainfalls and typhoons, which affected this county, too, leaving many dwelling houses submerged or destroyed and roads and bridges broken.

However, the inhabitants in the county removed all traces of the damage in three months and turned their villages into better places.

They built hundreds of dwelling houses and improved rivers and streams. And they established pleasure parks and grounds equipped with modern facilities to suit its local characteristics, bringing about a radical change in land management.

Kim Chong Song, secretary of the Tongsin County People's Committee, told KCNA:

"The county plans to renovate its house of culture and library on a modern basis and build a health complex.

Its officials and inhabitants are now filled with the patriotic will to turn the county into a better living place."
