Academic Degrees, Titles Awarded to Scientists in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- State academic degrees and titles were awarded to scientists on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the State Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Social Sciences.

The title of candidate academician was conferred on Chief Kim Sa Myong and researcher Cha Tong Min of the State Academy of Sciences for their achievements in scientific researches.

Professorship was awarded to institute director of the State Academy of Sciences Ryu Song Un and its researchers Pak Jae Ryong, Kim Sun and Han Kyong Hwa, and Jang Hui Su, researcher of the Hamhung Branch of the academy, Kong Myong Song, institute director of the Academy of Social Sciences, and Section Chief Kim Chang Gyong and researcher An Myong Il of the Social Scientists Society of Korea.

The doctor's degree went to Deputy Department Director Jong To Jun, institute directors Ri Son Hui and Ko Ki Hun, deputy institute director Kim Yong Il, section chiefs Ri Sok Ryong, Rim Tok Hong and Ha In Su, researchers Yun Chang Sik and Paek Yong Ung of the State Academy of Sciences, Im Kwang Hyok, section chief, and Ra Hong Sun, researcher of the Hamhung Branch of the academy, Rim Jong Nam, researcher of University of Science, Ko In Bae, secretary-general of the Social Scientists Society of Korea, section chiefs Ri Chang Jin, Jo Hwi Nam, Kim Ji Won and Jang Song Nam, and researcher Hong Sok Hui of the Academy of Social Sciences and its staff members An Jong Hyok and Thak Ryong Bom.

Associate professorship was awarded to 18 others.

Awarding ceremonies took place on Wednesday and Thursday.
