Mansudae Art Studio in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The Mansudae Art Studio in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea marked its 53rd birthday on November 17.

The Studio is well known at home and abroad as a comprehensive Juche-based fine art center.

This year its creative workers made a signal contribution to erecting statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang and other parts of the country. And they built statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on horsebacks in the compound of the Studio on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star (Feb. 16).

They also created several hundred fine art works as valuable as national treasure.

The Studio devoted its efforts to building monumental edifices such as the Pyongyang Folklore Park and the Ogasan Botanical Exhibition.

Meanwhile, it displayed jewel paintings at the 20th "Master Class" International Art Festival, held in Sankt-Peterburg of Russia from June 3 to July 10, to win high appreciation. Its oil painting "Long-Awaited Day of Liberation" got a gold prize, the highest prize of the 15th Beijing International Art Expo held from Aug. 15 to 20.

The Mansudae Art Studio, staffed with People's and Merited Artists, is making signal achievements in creation of paintings, embroideries and ceramics.
