S. Korean Authorities' Crackdown upon Progressive Forces Slammed
Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The south Korean "Ministry of Unification" on Nov. 7 sent an official paper to non-governmental pro-reunification movement organizations calling for restraining political activities.

The ministry said in the paper that "possible political activities on the part of non-governmental organizations with the presidential election at hand are a matter of concern" and the organizations would be well advised "to take care of themselves so that they may not support and help specified political parties or candidates".

Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says in a bylined commentary in this regard:

This is nothing but a cynical ploy to help the conservative forces realize their ambition to stay in power through the "presidential election" by putting the brake on the organizations' actions to judge the treacherous regime at any cost under the pretext of "concern about political activities".

It is none other than the Lee Myung Bak group that should stop deliberate political activities before the "presidential election".

Thrown into a bottomless predicament with the "presidential election" at hand, the Lee group is becoming evermore undisguised in its campaign to interfere with the "election" with all power involved.

It is quite natural for the south Korean non-governmental pro-reunification movement organizations to stage actions to judge the puppet conservative forces hell-bent on the desperate moves to escalate the confrontation with compatriots and ignite a war against the north, opposed to the national reconciliation, unity and reunification through an alliance with the north, as they reflect the wishes of the people to see the confrontation regime toppled and the road of the improved inter-Korean relations opened.

The above-said action taken by the ministry is unjustifiable fascist action and renewed crackdown upon the progressive forces with the "presidential election" at hand.
