Japan Urged to Redress Its Crime-woven Past
Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- Japan should opt for redressing its past crimes. This would be the best way for it to fulfil its international and moral obligation and be upright in the international community.

Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes this in a bylined article carried 107 years since the Japanese imperialists fabricated "Ulsa Five-Point Treaty".

The article lays bare how this illegal treaty was cooked up in a coercive manner.

It goes on:

The Japanese imperialists fabricated the "Ulsa Five-Point Treaty" by force of arms on Nov. 17 1905, an international swindle unprecedented in history.

The treaty was an illegal document as it violated the principles and norms for concluding the treaty from A to Z.

This was evidenced by the fact that the treaty was made without any prior approval, signature and the seal of state of the contracting party at that time.

As a matter of fact, the treaty was a false document as it grossly violated the requirements and principles under international law. It was a sham document unilaterally proclaimed.

The treaty was, therefore, a mere scrap of paper because it had neither legal validity nor binding force.

On the strength of the treaty illegal from the viewpoint of international law the Japanese imperialists had enforced a colonial and fascist rule and imposed unbearable misfortunes and pain upon the Koreans, occupying Korea for more than forty years.

More than a century has passed since all Koreans wailed bitterly and loudly after the sovereignty of the country was usurped by the brigandish Japanese imperialists.

This bitter lamentation is still fresh in the memory of the Koreans as it bears witness to the crimes the Japanese imperialists perpetrated by cooking up the illegal and brigandish treaty.

Japan, however, has shunned the settlement of its past crimes, refusing to admit them. History will never change, no matter how desperately Japan denies and distorts it.
