Autumn Tree Planting in Full Swing
Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Autumn tree planting is in full swing in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, especially in Pyongyang City.

Pak Chol Ho, a department director of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, told KCNA:

"Tree planting has gained momentum in the city, mainly in the Pothonggang Pleasure Park and the parks now under construction or renovation.

Flower plants and high trees are planted for hedges and in median lines of major roads and in areas nearby railways.

This month the city plans to plant over 80,000 trees of various species, including gingko, dawn redwood and Pyongyang maple trees.

Officials in the City People's Committee are taking the lead in tree planting."

The same is true for Haeju City of South Hwanghae Province, Hamhung City of South Hamgyong Province, Sinuiju City of North Phyongan Province and other cities.

Kong Kwang Jin, senior engineer of the Haeju City Forest Management Station, said:

"Broadleaf trees have higher rate of rooting than needle-leaf trees in the season of autumn.

Tree planting is part of patriotic works. We have planned to plant tens of thousands of saplings of Pyongyang maple and clammy locust in the areas nearby railways."
