16,000 S. Korean Workers Launch General Strike
Pyongyang, November 11 (KCNA) -- More than 16 000 unionists under the Solidarity Council of School Part-timers in south Korea launched a large-scale general strike in demand of the abolition of part-time job on Nov. 9.

Such general strikes took place in Seoul and 15 other areas with part-time workers of at least 3 440 schools across south Korea attending.

A meeting was held in Seoul to launch a general strike. Speakers there deplored that the part-time workers at schools are subject to unreasonable discrimination. The actions of workers kicked off in various areas to judge the treacherous regime and have the part-time job abolished are sure to win, they declared.

Meetings denouncing the misrule of the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors took place outside the education offices in Inchon, Pusan, Taegu, Taejon and Kyonggi, South Kyongsang and South Jolla provinces. Meetings and demonstrations of angry part-time workers took place in different parts of south Korea.
