Fair Solution to Issue of Application of Tuition Waiver to Korean Schools Demanded
Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- Members of the Liaison Council of Students of Korean High Schools composed of representatives of Korean high school students in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and other parts of Japan visited the buildings of the Japan Democratic Party and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on November 1. They separately conveyed a written request and a paper containing signatures of more than 120,000 persons demanding the application of the tuition waiver program to the Korean schools.

They condemned the Japanese government for its wrong attitude of excluding the Korean high schools from the application of the program for what it called political and diplomatic reasons.

They expressed indignation at Japan's policy of national discrimination, saying that the Korean students are just learning their mother tongue like the Japanese students.

They recalled that the UN Committee on the Right of Child recommended the Japanese government to take a step for applying the same program to the Korean schools without any discrimination as it does to other foreign schools.

Japan should move so that the issue of applying tuition waiver program may be fairly settled as early as possible, they urged.
