Actions for Guarantee of Students Rights of Korean Schools Launched in Japan
Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- A meeting demanding the immediate application of the tuition-free program for senior high schools to the Korean schools in Japan took place at the Hall of Members of the House of Councillors in Tokyo on Nov. 1 under the sponsorship of national network supporting the Korean schools.

Present there were students and teachers of Korean high schools and their parents and Dietmen and officials of civic organizations of Japan.

Students of schools and parents made speeches at the meeting.

They said that two and half years have passed since the tuition-free program for senior high schools was enforced, but unreasonable discrimination of excluding the Korean schools is going on.

In this period, Koreans in Japan and Japanese personages have conducted signature campaigns, petition activities and demonstrations in order to find a solution to the issue of supporting the Korean schools, they noted, adding:

This being a hard fact, the Japanese government refused to apply the tuition-free program to the Korean schools this year, too. This is absolutely intolerable.

Then the floor was taken by Japanese personages.

They said that the issue of the tuition-free program helped them keenly realize the inhuman action taken by the Japanese government.

This is a typical example of Japan's discrimination against the Koreans in Japan, they noted.

The issue of the tuition-free program is an important one concerning the right to national education and affecting human rights in Japan, they held.

They expressed the will to continue activities to have the rights of students of Korean schools guaranteed, together with the Koreans in Japan.
