Actions for Applying Tuition Free System to Korean Schools Launched by Koreans in Japan
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Koreans in Japan are staging actions in different parts of Japan calling for an immediate application of tuition free system to Korean schools in Japan.

Two and half years have passed since the system was applied but only Korean schools are excluded from the system and their educational environment is deteriorating due to the Japanese government's policy of discriminating against the Korean nation.

Representatives of the Liaison Council of Directors General of Korean Schools, a judicial body of schools, on Oct. 16 visited the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and censured the stand of the Japanese government on the issue of supporting Korean schools before handing a written request calling for an immediate application of the system.

They urged the Japanese government to unconditionally recognize the guarantee of the right of Korean students in Japan.

Those related to Korean schools in Kanagawa Prefecture, representatives of the organizations for supporting Korean schools and those related to Korean schools in Aichi Prefecture on October 19 visited the hall of members of the House of Councilors and handed a written request and signature papers.

On Oct. 23 representatives of the Liaison Council of Mothers' Societies of Korean Schools in a written request submitted to the ministry said that the Koreans' resentment at the Japanese authorities' policy of discriminating against the Koreans in Japan has gone beyond the tolerance limit. They declared actions of Koreans in Japan will go on till the system has been applied to their schools.
