National Memorial Service for Cha Kwang Su Held
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- A national memorial service for revolutionary martyr Cha Kwang Su was held here Tuesday, the 80th anniversary of his death.

He was a core member of the first Juche-oriented revolutionary organization, Down-with Imperialism Union and the Society for Rallying Comrades, the first party organization which gave origin to the Workers' Party of Korea.

He, active as chief of staff of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, fought to carry out the operational intentions of President Kim Il Sung. Cha fell in action in Tunhua, China at the age of 27 on Oct. 30, 1932.

Present at the memorial meeting were 0000, officials of party, armed forces and power bodies, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, labor innovators, bereaved families and working people in the city.

Kim Ki Nam, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, made a memorial speech.

He said:

Cha Kwang Su was a staunch defender of Hanbyol, the President, as he played a key role in carving out a new history of unity and cohesion around the leader at the dawn of the Korean revolution.

He was totally attracted by the humanity and ideology of the President possessed of the outstanding personality as a great man and cherished belief that a rosy future is in store for the Korean revolution and a revolutionary can lead a worthwhile life only when he or she holds the President in high esteem as the center of unity and follows him to the end. He fought with this faith to the last moments of his life.

He was the first comrade-in-arms of the President as he contributed to building the Juche-oriented revolutionary armed forces and pioneering the Songun cause true to the President's idea and line of attaching importance to arms.

He worked and lived at any time and in any place the way the President did by learning from his noble outlook on the people.

Under the meticulous guidance of the President Cha grew up to be a core revolutionary with an exceptionally high organizational conception. He handled every issue according to the intention and conclusion of the President without allowing any concession over the revolutionary principle and breach of the stipulated regime and order under any circumstances.

He is always remembered by the WPK, the country and its people as an indomitable fighter who protected Hanbyol and ardent loyalist entirely thanks to the deep political trust, ardent comradeship and noble sense of revolutionary obligation of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu.

The trust and loving care for the revolutionary forerunners are given steady continuity by the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un possessed of noble outlook on comrades-in-arms.

The noble revolutionary careers and exploits of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners including Cha Kwang Su who gave origin to the unity and cohesion around the leader at the dawn of the Korean revolution and devoted their youth and lives to the liberation of the country and the victory in the revolutionary cause of Juche will shine forever along with the victorious advance of the Korean revolution, concluded the speaker
