The speakers deplored that this land was fraught with the danger of war due to the recent attempt to scatter anti-north leaflets and it is now disturbed by the Hoguk exercise involving hundreds of thousands of troops.

They accused the authorities of kicking off the exercise for a preemptive attack on the north in collusion with the U.S. in a bid to escalate the danger of war and bar the progressive forces from advancing in the election.

The conservative forces are inciting a war in pursuit of their political interests, but this will only precipitate their doomsday, they warned.

They stressed that the citizens of Kwangju would stage actions for checking and foiling the war drumbeat of the conservative forces, holding candlelight for peace against war in unity.
