Stop to Hoguk Exercise Demanded in South Korea
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The Emergency Action for Peace against Hoguk Exercise and War made up of civic and social organizations including the Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty and opposition parties of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on Oct. 25.

At the press conference the organization branded the Hoguk exercise being staged by the south Korean authorities with the U.S. as a drill for a preemptive attack against the north, to all intents and purposes.

Defying the warning of the north, the authorities preempted a shelling from Yonphyong Island while Hoguk exercise was under way in 2010, triggering off a shelling incident, the organization recalled, adding that they kicked off saber-rattling with reinforced troops again this year, increasing the danger of war.

It demanded the Lee Myung Bak regime of south Korea and the "Saenuri Party" halt at once all actions to ignite a war and drills for a preemptive attack on the DPRK.

We will intensify the actions to defuse the danger of war and defend peace and thus punish the anti-reunification forces without fail, declared the organization.
