Rodong Sinmun U.S. Will Have to Pay for Damage Done to DPRK through Harsh Sanctions
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun in a bylined article on Saturday lays bare the persistent, harsh and reactionary nature of the sanctions the U.S. has imposed on the DPRK.

The article says:

The U.S. president was recently reported to have extended for another year the sanctions it slapped against the DPRK including the ban on assets transaction with the DPRK that took effect in 2008.

Pursuant to this action, the U.S. is escalating its sanctions against the DPRK, groundlessly defaming its efforts to defend justice, peace and independent dignity.

The U.S. imperialists' sanctions are brigandish economic aggression intended to wipe socialism off the surface of the earth through persistent economic pressure on the DPRK and turn the world totally capitalist and Americanized.

Their sanctions are nothing but vicious moves to exterminate the Korean nation as they are aimed at stifling the Korean people by creating a long economic chaos in a bid to bar them from attaining their goals to build a thriving socialist nation and improve the people's living standard.

They are, at the same time, undisguised moves for aggression and war as they are designed to weaken the DPRK's military potential in an effort to create conditions for provoking the second Korean War and bring down its socialist system by use of force.

The U.S. persistent sanctions and blockade are doing enormous harm to all fields of the DPRK's peaceful economic construction and the resultant damages are sharply increasing with each passing day.

But for the U.S. sanctions, the DPRK would have made world-startling progress in economic construction and the Korean people would have been able to lead a happier life than anybody else.

Terming the U.S. sanctions and blockade a wanton violation of the DPRK's sovereignty, the article concludes that the U.S. will certainly have to pay for the crimes committed against the Korean people.
