Foodstuffs Made with Yontubu Popular in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- Foodstuffs made with yontubu (soft bean curd), presented by the Moranbong District Restaurants Management Office, won a gold medal and the top prize at the national consumer goods exhibition recently held in Pyongyang.

They include hoecake, fried corn-cake, yogurt, instant ice cream and drinks cooked with yontubu.

Those foodstuffs drew attention of visitors, housewives in particular, as they cost low and are good for health.

Yontubu contains such functional components as protein, lipid, oligosaccharide, saponin, vitamins and microelements and generally one kilogram of beans is needed to produce ten kilograms of yontubu.

It is highly nutritious, but smells sour with passage of time. So the demand for it was not high in the past.

The employees of the management office found out a way to remove such defect and finally succeeded in making delicious and nutritious corn foodstuffs with yontubu in order to improve the diet.
