Japanese Public Becoming Increasingly Critical of History Distortion
Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- Japanese public is getting increasingly critical of the government's distortion of history, according to the south Korean KBS on Oct. 23.

Yoshimi, university professor of Japan, visited the Osaka City Office together with members of a Japanese civic organization to lodge a protest with its mayor against his reckless remarks denying sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army.

He is the scholar who proved through documents discovered early in the 1990s that the government was directly involved in the recruitment of sexual slaves and their operation and there was coercion in this course.

He demanded the mayor retract his reckless remarks and apologize for them, holding that the latter's statement that "there is no evidence that comfort women were taken amid violence and threat of the Japanese army" was denial of historical facts already disclosed.

Growing strong among various circles of Japan is discontent with the moves of the Japanese political camp to deny the past history as evidenced by its attempt to correct Kono's 1993 statement in which Japan made apology and repentance of the sexual slavery.
