Xinhua News Agency Introduces Educational System in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The Xinhua News Agency of China on Oct. 19 reported an article written by its correspondent in Pyongyang in which he introduced the advantageous socialist educational system in the DPRK.

Recalling that an ordinance of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly on enforcing universal 12-year compulsory education was promulgated at the Sixth Session of the 12th SPA of the DPRK in September, the article went on:

Children of primary and middle schools in the DPRK have lessons in the morning and take part in extra-curricular activities at schools or children's palaces in the afternoon according to their aptitude.

Students of middle schools not only have lessons but also get vocational and technical trainings.

Their extra-curricular activities help them deepen their knowledge about different fields.

The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace has calligraphy, painting, music, dance and other hobby groups which are joined by students according to their aptitude.

All extra-curricular services are provided free of charge.
