Research into New Kinds of Turf Makes Headway in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- The Lawn Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences has achieved successes in its work for greening the country.

The dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un brightly indicated tasks and ways for bringing about a turn in the work, calling for planting creeping plants including turf in an extensive way.

The institute has put efforts to the work of acclimatizing new kinds of turf to the climatic conditions of Korea.

It has given spurs to the study of such kinds of ever-green turf as bluegrass well known for their ornamental value.

It also has buckled down to solving scientific and technological issues arising in planting new kinds of turf.

It has consolidated successes made in transferring gene strong in standing cold to golden turf.

It also developed a technology of producing soil-free turf that has become the world trend to suit the conditions of Korea, and laid foundations for producing quality turf in an industrial way.

Also under way is the research for propagating new kinds of turf throughout the country.
