Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says this in a bylined article to mark Day of the United Nations.

The UN, worldwide united government-level organization, officially came into existence on October 24, 1945.

Since then many member nations of the UN have taken a series of measures to solve various acute problems including the ensuring of peace and security of the world despite the tempests of history, and have made efforts to realize them.

The present international situation has changed, different from the time when the UN was founded, and the new establishment of balance of power is on the way.

There are acute contradiction and confrontation between forces for unipolar world and forces for the multipolar world. The sentiments opposing high-handed and arbitrary practices and unilateralism have mounted.

The United Nations Security Council, dancing to the tune of the U.S. high-handedness, used to adopt decisions contrary to international law and UN Charter while illegally taking issue with the exercises of legitimate rights by the anti-imperialist independent countries.

It is necessary to put an earlier end to the history in which the name of the UN is being misused by individual countries. The U.S. high-handed and arbitrary practices should not be allowed in the UN.

The DPRK entered the UN on September 17, 1991. It has since made all possible efforts to ensure the peace and security of the world and establish the fair international relations in line with the purpose and principle of the UN Charter as the member nation of the world body.

It is an invariable stand of the DPRK government to ensure the peace and security of the world and soundly develop the international relations.

The DPRK will develop the relations with all the countries which respect its sovereignty in conformity with its foreign policy for peace and friendship, and actively join the UN member nations in their efforts for global peace, stability and sustained development.
