No to Revival of "Yusin" Dictatorship, Says Organization of S. Korea
Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty of south Korea on Thursday made public a statement on Oct. 18 opposing the revival of "yusin" dictatorship.

The statement recalled that Park Chung-Hee declared a martial law on October 17, 1972 for his lifelong presidency, dissolving the "National Assembly", banning political parties and political activities and proclaiming "yusin".

This was, in a word, an illegal action of investing Park Chung-Hee with all rights, it said, and went on:

During the "yusin" dictatorship Park punished pro-democracy figures at random and stamped out the basic rights of the people, bringing a dark age to south Korea.

40 years since then his descendant claimed the May 16 military coup was "an inevitable best choice", denied the judgment of acquittal made for the victims of the case of the People's Revolutionary Party and refused to reflect on the crimes of "yusin" dictatorship.

All these facts herald the revival of dictatorship, the statement said, stressing that the revival of "yusin" dictatorship should never be allowed.
