DPRK Pays Big Efforts to Scientific Development
Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- A number of events featuring the nation's sci-tech achievements are scheduled for late October in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In this regard, Kim Yong Gon, a section chief of the State Science and Technology Commission, told KCNA:

The 23rd national software contest and exhibition opened at the Three-Revolution Exhibition on Oct. 18.

A national presentation of sci-tech achievements in the coal industry is due at the Sunchon Area Youth Coal Mining Complex on Oct. 23-24.

National exhibitions of sci-tech achievements in casting, printing and machine-building industries are to be held at the Pyongyang Thermal Power Complex, Taean Heavy Machine Complex and Pyongyang General Printing Plant from October 23 to 26.

On Oct. 24-26 there will be a national seminar on the basic science at Kim Il Sung University.

A national exhibition of new inventions in the fuel field will take place at the Phyongchon District Fuel Station in Pyongyang on Oct. 30-31. Meanwhile, Kim Chaek University of Technology plans to host national presentations of sci-tech achievements in electronic engineering and metal and tool materials.

Such events will be helpful to putting spurs to the building of an economic power.
