Rodong Sinmun Raps U.S. Projected Deployment of New Type Stealth Fighters in Japan
Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of Defense recently announced its plan to deploy F-35 fighters in Kadena air force base in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a bylined article in this regard: This plan is to retain its military and technological edge and military hegemony in the Asia-Pacific region.

This deployment aims at a nuclear war, the article says, and goes on:

Kadena military base hosts the ammunition maintenance unit in charge of supplying nukes to the fighters whose mission is to mount a nuclear attack as well as the ordnance unit of the marine flying corps in Iwakuni, while performing the duties to supply and maintain all the nuclear forces of the U.S. imperialist aggression troops all over Asia.

It is the scenario of the U.S. to mount a preemptive nuclear attack in contingency while permanently keeping nukes and nuclear capable Stealth fighters in Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula fraught with the greatest danger of a nuclear war in the world.

Herein lie the danger and gravity of the deployment of F-35s.

It is the invariable policy of the U.S. to strengthen the military control and domination over Asia through military edge based on the law of jungle and tightened alliance.

It pins hope on the key role to be played by its allies, Japan in particular, in carrying it out.

It is the ulterior intention of the Japanese reactionaries to keep pace with the U.S. in military operations by choosing F-35 as its mainstay fighter and, at the same time, secure the capability to stage war actions independently by extending the radius of operation to the vast Asia-Pacific region.

It is as clear as a pikestaff why the U.S. is mulling deploying F-35s in Okinawa which Japan is so keen to purchase.

It is beyond any shred of doubt that this military deployment will spark an arms race in this region.
