Capital City of DPRK Takes on New Look
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Parks in Pyongyang are being face-lifted to suit modern aesthetic sense, providing citizens with better conditions for cultural and emotional life.

Kim Song Dok, vice-chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, told KCNA:

Roller-skating court, mini golf course and other playing grounds have appeared and various kinds of physical exercise apparatuses installed in tens of parks in the city.

Efforts are also made to renovate public service establishments in those parks while stepping up the pavement of parkways and the greening of their vicinities.

Designers have already worked out park blueprints in a peculiar way, and citizens are turning out in the drive to renew the parks with a high degree of patriotism.

Samma Park in Tongdaewon District with an area of more than 18 000 square meters and Sanghung Children's Park in Sosong District are to be equipped with courts for roller-skating, mini golf and badminton, basketball and volleyball.

There are more than ten kinds of amusement facilities, folk-game sites and dancing grounds in those parks.

Chongryu Scientists' Park is also taking on a new look, with a pavilion built in the centre and sports and amusement facilities on either side of the pavilion.
