U.S. Modernization of Nuclear Forces under Fire
Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- It was reported by the Washington Post recently that expenditure for the modernization of nuclear forces is drastically increasing in the U.S. as its plan is delayed.

According to the paper, the improvement of B-61 nuclear bombs will require 10 billion dollars in five years to come, the building of 12 new type nuclear-powered submarines for the purpose of bolstering nuclear delivery means require 110 billions dollars and the procurement of each nuclear capable F-35 would cost 162 million dollars.

Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a bylined article urges the U.S. to stop at once a mockery of the international community with a cheap advertisement of disarmament and the modernization of nuclear forces against peace.

The U.S. has pushed ahead with the modernization of nuclear forces under the signboard of disarmament, the article says, adding:

It is the scenario of the U.S. to reduce the number of some aging nuclear weapons and develop and update new type nuclear weapons and manufacture ultramodern weapons equivalent to nukes in striking and destructive power.

It spent more than 10 billion dollars for modernizing nuclear weapons or improving them or extending their use in 2009 only.

It is mulling investing huge additional funds in the near future.

It is also putting spurs to the development of nuclear delivery means.

In recent years the U.S. military authorities disclosed that huge funds would be spent for developing new type long-distance nuclear capable bombers while announcing a proposal for defence budget.

The U.S. is contemplating deploying hypersonic bombs in 2015. When they are deployed, it will be capable of mounting surprise attacks on any country incurring its displeasure.

The U.S. modernization of nuclear forces is dangerous as it may trigger a new arms race and they can be used as conventional weapons at any time.

The U.S. is the arch criminal who disturbs the global peace and security.
