Acrobatic Drama "Tale of Chun Hyang" Produced in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 11 (KCNA) -- The acrobatic drama "Tale of Chun Hyang" has been recently produced in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The drama is based on Korea's classical novel "Tale of Chun Hyang", believed to date back to the 18th century, which deals with the matter of rank and wealth, a source of evils in the feudal society, through a tale about love between Chun Hyang (female lead) and Mong Ryong (male lead) to reveal the reactionary nature of the feudal status system.

The drama consisting of five acts makes a truthful artistic representation of the love story through a good combination of all elements of circus including aerial, ground, synchronized swimming and ice stunts and magic.

Its performance is now going on at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre with full capacity.

The performers successfully represented the ideological theme of the drama by use of modern stage decor and lighting, numbers such as swinging, seesawing, rope walking, balancing on the water, etc. with the use of unique methods of acrobatics including magic.

The acrobatic drama is highly acclaimed by audience for its successful presentation of the folk tale, which was adapted for a feature film and an opera in the past.
