Int'l Day of Old Persons Observed in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- There took place colorful events on Monday, International Day of Old Persons.

An art performance was given by the National Symphony Orchestra at the People's Theatre to mark the day.

Appreciating the performance were Yang Hyong Sop, Kwak Pom Gi, Mun Kyong Dok and others, war veterans, persons of merit and old persons in the city of Pyongyang and foreign diplomats and embassy officials and members of missions of international bodies.

The performance begun with orchestra "Ode to Marshal Kim Il Sung". Put on the stage were colorful numbers including orchestra "Our General Is the Best" and symphonic poem "Endless Yearning".

On the same day, old persons spent a happy day in parks and pleasure grounds here.

There took place on the bank of the picturesque Taedong River an angling contest and folk amusement and sports games and at Phalgol park sports events of old persons.

Merry dancing parties were held by old persons in every scenic spot such as Moranbong Recreation Ground and promenade of the River Taedong, generating cheerful mood.

The old persons received sincere services in public catering centers such as Okryu Restaurant and Chongryu Restaurant and facilities of communal amenities.

Officials of the party and power organs handed over daily necessaries and aid materials to war veterans, old persons of merit and those in asylums for the aged on the same day.

There took place similar events in the provinces on the occasion.
