S. Korean Authorities Accused of Suppressing Forces for Reunification
Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) --The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the People's Solidarity for the Repeal of the "Security Law" and the Society for Urgent Reaction to "Security Law" of south Korea held a press conference outside the "government" building in Seoul on Monday.

The speakers accused agents of the Intelligence Service and the police of forcibly searching the offices of the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in Puchon, Kunsan and Taegu and the houses of its leading members on Sept. 20.

It is nonsensical for them to label this organization "enemy-benefiting" though it has conducted its activities for more than 18 years, they noted, adding they were shocked by the authorities' behavior of conducting a search operation without any evidence.

The organization has carried on its activities for peace and reunification, opposed to war as evidenced by its call for the conclusion of a peace treaty and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from south Korea and they were given publicity by media, they asserted.

The authorities' repressive racket is a deliberate move to put a brake on the organization's campaign against the construction of the Jeju naval base and create a terror-ridden atmosphere under the pretext of "security" with the presidential election drawing near, and thus back the "Saenuri Party" in its bid to stay in power, they declared.
