Bioindustry Institute Conducive to Improvement of Health
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- The Bioindustry Institute under Kim Il Sung University is contributing to the improvement of people's health and the development of the nation's core technologies.

After coming into being in December Juche 78 (1989), the Institute has made a lots of successes in the development of bioindustrial products and the technological service.

It developed tens of kinds of medicines and health food, including "Chonggokkinase", "Bone-strengthening protein" and "Glutamic acid zinc", helping mass-produce them on an industrial basis.

It also made a big contribution to environmental protection and promotion of people's livelihood by introducing such new ultra-modern scientific and technological successes as the improvement of water quality by nitrite bacterium and the production of medicine for diseases of fish by high-concentrated bacteriophage.

The Institute boasts of more than 20 competent scientists holding honorary titles and academic degrees or titles.

Director Ri Hyon Gwang told KCNA that the Institute is now concentrating its efforts on the work to develop more functional bio-products and steadily improve the production and quality control system of health food and biomedicines.
