Halt to Suppression of Pro-Reunification Organization Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 24 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification of south Korea issued a statement on Sept. 20 in denunciation of the puppet authorities' suppression of an organization of the movement for peaceful reunification.

The statement recalled that the Intelligence Service and the police searched six places including the houses and offices of leading members of the organization in Taegu, Puchon and Kunsan.

They took this action on charges of violating the "Security Law", claiming that the organisation's call for concluding a peace agreement and the pullback of the U.S. forces from south Korea amounts to praising and encouraging the north, the statement charged, and continued:

The search conducted again by the authorities against this organization in the wake of the similar operation in last February is aimed to block the brisk actions staged in different areas in protest against the naval base construction on Jeju Island and create a situation favorable for the "Saenuri Party's" stay in power.

The statement urged the IS and the police to immediately stop the suppression of the organizations of the movement for peaceful reunification including the organisation.

We will make every possible effort to get repressive mechanisms disturbing peace and blocking reunification, democracy and progress abolished and the worst draconic SL repealed, concluded the statement.
