Railway Service from Tanchon to Paekgumsan Restarts
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- More successes are reported every day from the sites for recovering from flood damage in Komdok area of the DPRK.

The first train ran along the reconstructed Tanchon-Paekgumsan railway at 4 p.m. on Sept. 20.

The unusual heavy rain hit mines of Komdok area at the end of last August, causing huge damage not only to the mines there but to the railways.

The workers of the Ministry of Railways and its affiliated bureaus rushed to the flood-hit mines of Komdok area. They did such huge work as filling tens of thousands of cubic meters of soil and stones and fixing rails and sleepers, etc. by displaying popular heroism.

As a result, dozens of seriously destroyed bridges and roadbeds have been restored.

They reconstructed the railway bridge between Ripha Station and Sinjung Station, the most difficult and vast rehabilitation project, in a matter of ten odd days by applying a reasonable method of construction and advanced working methods though it would have taken more than a month at an ordinary pace.

The rehabilitation of the railway from Tanchon City to Ryongyang Mine made a breakthrough in speeding up the overall recovery operations.
