Protest Action Staged in Demand of Release of Prisoners of Conscience
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- The Joint Action for Meeting with Prisoners of Conscience in south Korea launched a protest action on September 17 to lay bare the human rights situation and demand the release of the prisoners of conscience, while touring all parts of south Korea.

That day the organization held a press conference outside the detention house in Seoul.

A press release was read out there.

It deplored that the prisoners of conscience and their families are forced to live in agony, separated from them due to the political suppression in the land torn with human rights abuses.

The Lee Myung Bak regime is doing all kinds of favor for the criminals involved in scandals by abuse of power while intensifying the crackdown upon the unreasonably detained prisoners of conscience in the closing period of its rule, it noted, and went on:

It is the way for the regime to apologize to history for having violated democracy to set free the prisoners of conscience.

The Lee Myung Bak regime should not resort to the suppression any longer but release all the prisoners of conscience behind bars, it urged.
