The first leg of his guidance was the vegetable science institute.

He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the builders expanded the greenhouse capacity and radically increased the production true to the instructions given by leader Kim Jong Il while visiting the institute in March 2011.

He dropped in at the nutritive liquid supply room and computer control room. At the bio-engineering room he said he was greatly satisfied to learn that everything was put on a scientific basis.

At the experimental plots for research he was pleased to hear that it was conducting researches into more than 50 vegetable species including 20 odd species of tomato sent by himself.

He recollected that Kim Jong Il instructed the institute to cultivate a lot of round eggplants, Phyonggang radish, etc. on an experimental basis while visiting it in March last year, adding that he was well versed in vegetables, too.

He stressed the need to cultivate a lot of high-yielding species of tasty and highly nutritive vegetables suited to the climatic and soil conditions of the country so as to supply sufficient quantities of vegetables to the people.

Only when geothermal, solar heat and wind power energy are widely used for heating greenhouses, is it possible to reduce production cost and ensure profitability in operating them, he noted.

It is very nice to go round the vegetable science institute and it looks like a sea of greenhouses, he said, stressing the need for all provinces to build such greenhouses.

He underlined the need for the floricultural research field to actively learn from good experience of other countries.

He also called for putting the flower booming on a scientific and industrial basis.

He had a photo taken with the scientists and employees of the institute.

He extended his thanks to the teaching staff and students of Kim Il Sung University, soldier builders, scientists and employees for their patriotic devotion to the construction of the Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute and the Pyongyang Floriculture Institute.
