U.S. Anti-Islam Film Enrages World People
Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- A movie recently produced by a Jewish businessman in the United States has shaken the world as it insulted Islam and Islam's Prophet Muhammad.

He openly posted the movie titled "Innocence of Muslims" on an Internet website on Sept. 11, stirring a firestorm of protests among Islamists.

In a message issued on Sept. 13, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that "behind this evil move lie the antagonistic policies of the Zionists and the U.S. and other heads of the global arrogance".

"If the U.S. politicians are honest in their claim of not being involved (in the production of this film), (they) must bring the perpetrators of this hideous crime and their financial backers, who have wrenched the hearts of Muslim nations, to face a punishment proportionate to this great crime," Khamenei was quoted as saying.

Tehran's Senior Cleric Ahmad Jannati said the movie was produced under financial support of Israel, calling it an unprecedented insult to Muslim.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said in a statement issued by his office that the repeated insult to the religious sanctities by suspicious individuals and groups deserve the severest condemnation, particularly, the recent film which is devoid of any value but the abuse of Muslim sanctities and noble values.

The statement said that the natural response to such acts should be by cooperation between the followers of all (monotheistic) religions to prevent circulation of such suspicious ideas and refrain from resorting to violence and to show the principles of Islam and its values of civilization.

"The freedom of expression should not be an excuse to practice abuses against the religious sanctities," it added.

The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan in a statement said the movie seriously hurt the people of Pakistan and all other Islamists, calling for refraining from insulting religions.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the Islamic Republic stresses that the systematic and continuous silence of the U.S. administration in case of such disgusting moves that are made in line with anti-Islam campaign is the main factor for the continuation of such moves.

The Foreign Ministry of Algeria said in a statement on Sept. 12 that the abuses of religious sacred symbols, whatever they are, can not but arouse indignation and condemnation because such provocations intend to stir up hatred and tension, and thus thwart efforts being made on the international level as part of the dialogue among civilizations and religions.

Popular protests against the U.S. insult to Muslim occurred all over the world.

The U.S. administration should take full responsibility for the consequence entailed by the film and punish those involved in it as well as sincerely reflect and apologize for it.
