Meeting of Mothers of Chongryon Held
Tokyo, September 11 (KNS-KCNA) -- The 9th meeting of mothers of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan was held at Korean Secondary High School in Tokyo on Sept. 8.

Present there were Kang Chu Ryon, chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Japan, officials and activists of the women's union in various areas, members of mothers societies of schools and the Meeting of Mothers and Children, young Korean activists of chapters and branches and those concerned with education.

Kang Chu Ryon made a speech there.

She recalled that mothers have striven to protect and achieve the right to national education since the 8th meeting of mothers.

She called on them to pool their efforts to achieve success in national education and bring up their children as required by the present times which entered into the new century of Juche.

Hong Man Gi, chairman of the Central Standing Management Board of the Korean Youth Commercial Association in Japan, spoke next.

An appeal was adopted at the meeting.

The appeal called on the mothers to make all efforts to bring up their children as genuine members of the Korean nation and carve out a bright future for them.

The meeting adopted a written request demanding an immediate application of tuition-free program for senior high schools to Korean schools.

Its participants watched a video introducing Korean Primary and Secondary School No. 1 in Tokyo where schools and students and their parents turned out as one to build a new school building.

On the same day there took place panel meetings and a performance by students of Korean Secondary High School in Tokyo.
