National Anthem Created under Guidance of Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- On the 64th birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, its people are looking back upon the history covered by the DPRK along with its national anthem.

The national anthem instills the people with pride as Kim Il Sung's nation and ardent patriotism and fans up their zeal to devotedly work for prosperity of the country.

After the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, President Kim Il Sung paid big efforts to creating this song.

When meeting musicians one day in September Juche 35 (1946), he proposed creating a national anthem in representation of freedom and happiness enjoyed by the people in the liberated country. He said that the song should represent the Korean people' national pride in having a beautiful country and splendid traditions.

What he said that day became the words of the song.

On a June day in 1947, he attended a hearing session of the national anthem.

Listening to the song carefully, he said that Korea is a time-honored country with brilliant culture and, accordingly, the verse on such theme should be repeated in the song to bring into bolder relief the sense of national pride.

Thus, the song was created under the deep care of the President. It is one of the reminders of his great feats for the country and the people.
