Members of Opposition Party Denounce Prosecution for Its Crackdown
Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- Members of Kwangju City Committee of the Unified Progressive Party of South Korea held a press conference in Kwangju on Sept. 3 in denunciation of prosecution's base crackdown.

At the press conference, the speakers accused the Kwangju District Prosecutor's Office of sending the list of members of the Unified Progressive Party to more than 40 offices in Kwangju and South Jolla Province and asking for information about their tendencies during the last "National Assembly" election.

They branded this as an infringement upon the freedom of political activities and human rights and an action to disturb the just trade union activities of members of the opposition party.

Assailing the prosecution for suppressing the political activities of the opposition party not only in Kwangju but in various other regions of south Korea, they said that all investigations are directed to derailing the solidarity in the opposition camp in the "presidential" election.

The speakers demanded the prosecution stop at once the unreasonable crackdown upon the opposition party being perpetrated in a bid to make the "Saenuri Party" stay in power.
