National Ssirum Tournament to Be Held in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- The 10th National Ssirum (Korean Wrestling) Tournament for Grand Bull Prize will take place on picturesque Rungna Islet here from September 14 to 17.

The tournament, to be held on the occasion of Harvest Moon Day (15th day of the eighth lunar month), a folk holiday, will be attended by wrestlers selected from Pyongyang and Nampho cities and provinces of the country.

It will involve team event and open-category event. Each team is made up of five players, including one under 15 and another above sixty.

The annual tournament is attracting increasing public interest in the country.

In the past tournaments their titles were taken by wrestlers from Pyongyang City and North Phyongan Province. Pak Chun Min of Pyongyang won the 4th, 5th and 6th tournaments and Ri Jo Won of North Phyongan Province the 7th, 8th and 9th tournaments.

Experts regard Ri Jo Won as hopeful of the forthcoming tournament for his past records and skills. But it is hard to foresee the results as a lot of excellent wrestlers have appeared throughout the country.

The grand bull for the forthcoming tournament weighs 950 kilograms.
