Rajin Port-Wonjong Road to Be Opened to Traffic
Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The Rajin Port-Wonjong road has been reconstructed as one of the projects to be jointly developed and operated by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and China.

Its reconstruction gave a facelift to the Rason Economic and Trade Zone, a centre of international transit trade, tourism and service business.

The road links Rajin Port, which draws interest of neighboring countries for its advantageous physiographical condition, and Wonjong-ri facing Hunchun in China with the Tuman River in-between. It extends 50 odd kilometers in total length with 9 meters in width on an average, 16 meters to the maximum.

If the road is opened to traffic, time taken in traveling will decrease by half than before and the traffic capacity will considerably go up.

It will also bring big benefit to freight transit transport and tourism.

The road is due to be opened in September. Its reconstruction project was started in June Juche 100 (2011).

Meanwhile, the DPRK and China expect to build Rajin-Hunchun highway and a bridge across the Tuman River bordering the two countries.
