S. Korean Unionists Start Anti-"government" Protest
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- Over 20 000 union members under the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions on Aug. 31 started anti-regime actions in Seoul.

The confederation and its affiliated organizations such as transport union, construction union and women's federation held rallies in such places as Seoul Railway Station plaza, Jongro, Youido and Kangnam.

They deplored the unpopular labor policy of the present regime, saying its aftereffect caused the workers to suffer from the unemployment and poverty.

However, Lee Myung Bak branded the action of the confederation for vital rights as "collective selfishness", they said.

They also denounced Park Geun Hye for being engrossed in deceptive actions for her own political interests, utterly indifferent to the living of the workers.

Saying that it is the unanimous demand of the workers to shorten work hours, halt the privatization, and abolish the law on the part-time job, they declared that they would wage a dynamic action against the "government" and "National Assembly" for their vital rights.

At the end of the rallies the bodies staged demos.

They expressed the will to struggle till their demands are met.

Their demands include the repeal of the law on the part-time job, the withdrawal of the lay-offs, revision of the evil labor law, shortening of labor hours, halt to the privatization, etc.

The workers arrived at Uljiro No. 1 and held a meeting to pledge themselves to win a victory in the general strike.
