Biking Gets Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- Biking is increasingly popular in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In this regard, Jong Yong Nam, department director of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, told KCNA:

"Bicyclists are increasing in the country as biking is good for health and favorable for a solution to traffic and energy problems as well as environmental protection.

On Sundays more people like to ride bicycle.

So we are working out various programs to offer convenience to the cyclists in the city.

More bicycle parks have been built in Pyongyang and other towns and rural communities.

The Pyongyang Joint Venture Bicycle Factory, with an annual production capacity of tens of thousands of bicycles, turns out bicycles suitable for the modern aesthetic sense and demands of citizens.

Meanwhile, mass media give people knowledge about regulations and common sense concerning cycling."

An Kyong Hui, department head of Pyongyang Medical College under Kim Il Sung University, said that cycling is good for waist and leg exercises and improves the functions of heart and lung.

It is also efficacious for fatigue, stress, migraine and geriatric diseases, she added.
