Memorial Service for Korean A-bomb Victims Held
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- A memorial service for Koreans in Japan killed by A-bomb explosions was held in front of the monument to the Korean victims in Nagasaki City of Japan on August 9.

Present there were Kim Jong Gu, chairman of the Nagasaki Prefectural Headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Kwak Kwi Hun, honorary chairman of the south Korean "Association for A-bomb Victims", Ri Thae Jae, chairman of the south Korean "Society of Second Generation of A-bomb Victims", Koreans in Japan and Japanese citizens.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the victims.

At the service Kim Jong Gu said after being abducted and taken away to Japan by the Japanese imperialists Koreans were subject to inhuman treatment, contempt and all sorts of hard labor and mercilessly killed by A-bomb explosions in the end.

The issue of Korean A-bomb victims was a product of the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists and a matter closely linked with the issue of Japan's liquidation of its past crimes, he noted.

He called for tenacious actions to facilitate the process for normalizing the relations between the DPRK and Japan in the basic spirit of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and put into force a relief measure for the A-bomb victims in Korea.

A letter to the Japanese government was read out there.
