Monument Erected in Russia in Commemoration of Kim Jong Il's Visit to Siberian, Far Eastern Regions of Russia
Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- On the occasion of the first anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's visit to Siberian and Far Eastern Regions of Russia a monument was erected in Amur Region of Russia.

Russian people erected the monument by cutting natural granite to be 108 cm high and 60 cm wide.

Carved on the monument was Kim Jong Il's autograph "Inexhaustible is the strength of the Russian people who harnessed the nature of Bureya. August 21, 2011 Kim Jong Il."

Seen below it is the Russian explanation "Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, on Aug. 21, 2011 visited Bureya Hydro-electric Plant and left his autograph 'Inexhaustible is the strength of the Russian people who harnessed the nature of Bureya. August 21, 2011 Kim Jong Il."

An unveiling ceremony was held at the Bureya Hydro-electric Plant in Amur Region on Tuesday.

Present there were figures of different circles and people of Amur Region. DPRK delegations visiting the region and staff members of the DPRK mission in Khabarovsk were present on invitation.

There were speeches.

The vice-minister of Culture of the Amur Regional Government said Kim Jong Il's visit to the region was of weighty significance in the development of the friendly and cooperative ties between the DPRK and Amur Region.

The feats he performed for developing the Russia-DPRK ties of friendship and cooperation will always be remembered by the Russian people, he added.

Then the monument was unveiled.

The participants laid floral baskets and bouquets before it.
