Documents on Tok Islets of Korea Opened to Public
Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- The south Korean KBS reported Saturday it obtained documents proving that Tok Islets are part of the inalienable territory of Korea.

According to it, the document the minister of internal affairs of Korea sent to the head of Ullung Island County who had jurisdiction over Ullung Island and Tok Islets in 1902 contained detailed regulations which called for receiving duties from all the goods coming in and going out of Ullung Island. This shows that the administrative power of the then government of the Ri Dynasty extended as far as Tok Islets.

According to the document, a contract made by Japanese traders, who had gone to Tok Islets to get ear shells around 1900, contained a promise to pay export duties to the chief supervisor of Ullung Island of Korea and the list of Japanese merchants who signed it.

Also discovered is a document of the Foreign Ministry of Japan proving the fact that Japanese traders paid export duties.

KBS said that experts claim the above-said facts are international legal evidence proving that "Korea effectively dominated Tok Islets and they are part of the territory of Korea."
