S. Korean Workers Launch General Strikes
Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Metal Trade Union under the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions launched the fourth general strike for winning the vital rights on August 17, south Korean KBS reported.

At least 100 000 unionists of major enterprises including the Hyundai and the Kia motor plants staged strikes in demand of the abolition of part-time job and improvement of working conditions.

They warned they will stage the fifth general strike on August 29 if the company sides continue suppression, not resuming dealings with trade unions.

Meanwhile, more than 3 500 unionists of the Kumho Tyre Plant started a total strike in demand of wage hike on August 16.
